Anantnag, June 9: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police recovered 104 grams of charas-like substance and cash amounting to ₹25.50 lakh during a raid in the Tulkhan area of Bijbehara and arrested an alleged drug peddler.
According to police officials, the operation was launched following credible information that a notorious drug peddler, identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar and a resident of Tulkhan, had concealed narcotics in his under-construction house.
Acting swiftly on the information, a police team conducted a search of the premises. During the operation, officers recovered 104 grams of charas-like sticks and ₹25,50,000 in cash, which had been hidden beneath boulders on the ground floor of the under-construction building.
Following the recovery, a case under FIR No. 154/2026 has been registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been initiated. The accused has been taken into custody in connection with the case.
Anantnag Police stated that the operation reflects its continued commitment to combating drug abuse and dismantling narcotics networks operating in the district. Police have urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
Authorities reiterated their determination to make Anantnag drug-free and safeguard the future of the youth through sustained anti-narcotics operations.
