Samba, May 07: Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Samba Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered approximately 32 grams of opium-like substance from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.

According to police officials, acting on reliable information, a police team from Police Station Ghagwal established a naka checking point at NHW Tapyal and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02DE-6019 that was travelling from Kathua towards Samba.

During the checking, police recovered around 32 grams of opium-like substance (afeem) from the possession of the driver and his associate. The accused have been identified as Taranjeet Singh, son of Daljeet Singh, resident of Abtal, tehsil Ramgarh, district Samba, and Rakesh Kumar, son of Ramesh Lal, resident of Sohal, tehsil Akhnoor, district Jammu.

Police have arrested both accused and seized the contraband substance along with the truck.

In this connection, FIR No. 46/2026 under sections 8/18 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal, and further investigation is underway.
