Punjab Government Announces Regularization of 65,000 Contractual and Outsourced Employees

Chandigarh | May 30, 2026
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has welcomed the Punjab Government's decision to regularize approximately 65,000 contractual, temporary, and outsourced employees across the state.
According to Kejriwal, the decision by the Punjab Government led by Bhagwant Mann marks a historic step towards ending the contract-based employment system for thousands of workers. He described the move as a landmark decision that would provide employees with greater job security, rights, and dignity.

In his statement, Kejriwal said that the decision is not merely an administrative reform but the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of thousands of employees and their families. He emphasized that regularization would ensure workers receive the benefits, recognition, and respect they deserve.

The former Delhi Chief Minister congratulated all employees who stand to benefit from the decision and praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for taking what he called a historic and people-centric step.

The announcement is expected to benefit a large number of workers who have been serving in various government departments on contractual and outsourced arrangements for several years. The move is being viewed as a significant development in Punjab's employment and administrative policy.
