NEET (UG) 2026 Exam Cancelled, Re-Examination to be Conducted

New Delhi, May 12, 2026:
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 examination that was conducted on May 3, 2026, following inputs from central agencies and investigative findings related to the examination process.

In an official press release issued on May 12, the NTA stated that the Government of India has approved the decision to re-conduct the examination in order to maintain transparency, fairness, and credibility in the national examination system.

The matter has also been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations surrounding the exam. The NTA assured full cooperation with investigating agencies.

According to the agency, the registration details, candidature, and examination centres chosen by students in the May 2026 cycle will remain valid for the re-examination. No fresh registration or additional examination fee will be required.

The NTA further informed that revised examination dates and fresh admit card schedules will be announced soon through official channels. Students and parents have been advised to avoid believing unverified reports circulating on social media.

The agency acknowledged that the decision may cause inconvenience to students and families but stated that it was necessary to protect the integrity of the examination system.
