Srinagar, May 30: In a significant development for government employees across Jammu & Kashmir, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir's Finance Department (Codes Division) has issued an official communication regarding the visit of the 8th Central Pay Commission to the Union Territory.

According to the official order dated May 29, 2026, the 8th Central Pay Commission will be on a visit to Jammu & Kashmir from May 31 to June 5, 2026. During the visit, the Commission is expected to interact with various stakeholders, including government employees, employee unions, and different associations, to gather inputs and feedback ahead of its recommendations.
As part of the visit, a formal interaction and presentation by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir has been scheduled for June 1, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Meeting Hall CR-3, SKICC, near Centaur Hotel, Srinagar.

The government has constituted a team of senior officers, led by the Chief Secretary, to interact with the Commission during the scheduled meeting. The team will include Additional Chief Secretaries from key departments such as Jal Shakti, Power Development, Tourism, Agriculture, Finance, and Public Works (R&B), along with Principal Secretaries from the Home Department, Lieutenant Governor's Secretariat, and Election Department.
Senior officials including the Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department; Commissioner Secretary, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department; and Heads of Departments of the Finance Department will also participate in the interaction.
The visit is being viewed as an important opportunity for Jammu & Kashmir to present its concerns, requirements, and expectations before the 8th Central Pay Commission. Government employees across the Union Territory are closely monitoring the developments, hoping that their issues related to pay scales, allowances, pensions, and service conditions will receive due consideration in the Commission's recommendations.
The interaction is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to highlight challenges and suggest measures aimed at improving the welfare and financial security of government employees.
