Samba, April 21, 2026: In a continued crackdown under the anti-drug campaign Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, the Samba Police achieved a significant success by arresting a drug peddler and recovering heroin-like substance (commonly known as Chitta) in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.
According to official reports, a police team from Police Station Vijaypur was on routine patrolling near SBI Bank Vijaypur when they intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02CP-4926, which was approaching from the Samba side. During checking, the team recovered approximately 9.10 grams of heroin-like substance from the possession of the rider.
The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Gulam Qadir, a resident of Rakh Barotian, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba. He was immediately taken into custody at the scene.
Police have also seized the contraband substance along with the motorcycle used in the transportation.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 61/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is currently underway to uncover any wider network involved in the drug trade.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug menace from the region and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to illegal drug activities.
