Reasi Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking; Two NDPS Cases Registered

Reasi, April 23: In a continued drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police achieved a significant breakthrough by registering two separate cases under the NDPS Act and recovering a total of 5.58 grams of heroin-like substance from the accused during naka checking and patrolling operations.

Acting under the supervision of SSP Mukund Tibrewal, the police intensified checks across key locations in the district.
First Incident: Motorcycle Intercepted at Talwara
During routine naka checking at Talwara Police Post, a motorcycle (JK20C-9374) coming from Salal side raised suspicion when the riders attempted to flee upon noticing the police.
The police team quickly intercepted the vehicle and identified the accused as:
Dalip Singh (driver)
Varun Kumar (pillion rider)
Upon search, 3.280 grams of heroin was recovered from Varun Kumar. Both failed to justify possession of the contraband.
A case FIR No. 73/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi, and investigation is underway.
Second Incident: Accused Apprehended During Patrol
In another operation near Sulla Naka, a suspect on foot was detained after showing suspicious behavior.
The accused, identified as:
Ranjeet Singh (resident of Sujandhar, Reasi)
During personal search, 2.3 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
Police registered FIR No. 72/2026 under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is ongoing.
