PDP Leader Iltija Mufti Leads Protest in Srinagar Over Urdu Language Issue

Srinagar, J&K:
Iltija Mufti, a prominent leader of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday led a protest in Srinagar against concerns surrounding the status and use of the Urdu language in the region.
Accompanied by several PDP workers and supporters, Mufti raised slogans and expressed strong opposition to what the party described as the “marginalization” of Urdu in official and administrative matters. Protesters emphasized that Urdu has historically held cultural and administrative significance in Jammu and Kashmir and should continue to be preserved and promoted.
Speaking to the media during the demonstration, Iltija Mufti stated that any move undermining the language would be resisted. She called upon the administration to safeguard Urdu’s position and respect the linguistic identity of the people.
The protest remained largely peaceful, with party workers holding placards and voicing their demands. Authorities monitored the situation closely to maintain law and order.
