Jammu, April 13, 2026:
In a significant administrative move, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has approved the promotion of 24 Inspectors (General Cadre) to the rank of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySP).
As per Government Order No. 222-Home of 2026 issued by the Home Department, the promotions have been granted in Pay Level-8 (₹47,600–1,51,100) of the pay matrix with immediate effect.
The decision follows recommendations from the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), CID, and Police Headquarters.
Among the officers promoted are Riyaz Mustafa, Mir Zahid Hussain, Arif Ahmad Ahangar, Ashwani Kumar Angotra, Nasir Syed Kirmani, Tahir Ahmed Qazi, Iftikhar Ahmed Mir, Ramesh Kumar Pandita, Raj Kumar Dhar, Sunil Kumar Ganjoo, Javid Akhtar, Ajay Bhat, Arun Kotwal, Vijay Kotwal, Mohd Arif, Shabir Ahmad, Kulbir Singh, Manzoor Hussain, Chaman Lal, Sanjeev Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Jagjiven Ram, Naveen Angral, and Som Raj.
The government order also states that these promotions will remain subject to the outcome of any pending writ petitions before competent courts.
The move is expected to strengthen the police administration and enhance law enforcement efficiency across Jammu and Kashmir.
