Jammu, April 13, 2026:

The Government Medical College Jammu has issued an urgent communication regarding the proposal for granting 2½ days’ pay and allowances in favour of non-gazetted employees of the Health & Medical Education Department.

As per the official letter issued by the office of the Principal & Dean, Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, all Government Medical Colleges (GMCs), Directors of Health Services in Jammu and Kashmir, and concerned authorities have been directed to submit detailed financial implications.

The communication requests departments to provide a comparative analysis of financial outlay, indicating the difference in expenditure if only recommended groups are considered versus inclusion of all groups.

The required data must include inputs from associated hospitals and health institutions under their jurisdiction. Authorities have been given a strict deadline of five days to submit the information for further processing by the Finance Department.

The matter has been marked as “MOST URGENT”, highlighting the importance of timely submission for decision-making at the government level.

The move is expected to play a key role in assessing the financial feasibility of extending additional pay benefits to non-gazetted employees in the health sector.
