In a continued crackdown against drug trafficking, Budgam Police have arrested a suspected drug peddler in the Beerwah area and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substances from his possession.
The operation was carried out by a police team led by ASI Ghulam Hassan of Police Station Beerwah. According to officials, the suspect tried to escape upon noticing the police presence but was quickly apprehended by the alert personnel.
During the search, police recovered approximately 1 kg 233 grams of a ganja-like substance and 22 grams of a charas-like substance in stick form wrapped in corn husk.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 57/2026 at Police Station Beerwah under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is currently underway.
The accused has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Mir, son of Ali Mohammad Mir, a resident of Utligam Beerwah.
Budgam Police have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating drug-related activities from the district and have urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to narcotics to help build a drug-free society.
