Budgam, April 25, 2026:
In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Budgam Police have successfully apprehended a drug peddler in the Beerwah area and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
According to official reports, the operation was carried out by a police team from Police Post Hardpanzoo near Zabgulla Khanshaib. During the naka checking, a suspect identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Joo, son of Ab Rashid Joo and a resident of Dobipora Khanshaib, was intercepted and detained.
Upon conducting a personal search, the police recovered approximately 72 grams of charas-like substance, which had been cleverly concealed in corn husks.
Following the recovery, a case under FIR No. 70/2026 has been registered at Police Station Beerwah under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Police officials reiterated their firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related crimes and assured that strict action will continue against those involved in drug peddling.
The police have also appealed to the general public to actively support the campaign against drug abuse by sharing any information related to illegal drug activities with nearby police authorities, ensuring timely and strict action.
