World Tuberculosis Day was observed in Samba district with a district-level programme held at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Complex, aiming to strengthen awareness and accelerate efforts toward a TB-free society.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ayushi Sudan (IAS) and hosted by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vidhi Bhatial. During the programme, the CMO highlighted key aspects of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) and outlined strategies for effective screening of vulnerable populations under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Phase II.
The programme witnessed participation from senior district officials, including officers from social welfare, panchayati raj, ICDS, and development departments. To spread awareness, a Nukkad Natak (street play) by the Sargam Group delivered a strong message on TB prevention, treatment adherence, and removal of social stigma.
Adding a human touch to the event, TB Champions shared their recovery journeys and appreciated the Health Department for its continuous support. In a significant contribution, Mr. Nawab Mehran Khan, CEO of ELFA International, donated 50 Nikshay Poshan Kits, which were distributed among beneficiaries.
Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan also felicitated Panchayats declared TB-free and commended the Health Department for its dedicated efforts. She emphasized the need for sustained action and officially launched the second phase of the 100 Days TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, reaffirming the district’s commitment to eliminating tuberculosis.
