Continuing its drive against the illegal sale of liquor in the district, Samba Police has arrested a bootlegger and seized 27 bottles of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.

According to police officials, the action was taken after receiving reliable information that a person was allegedly selling illicit liquor to the public near Railway Colony, Bari Brahmana. Acting swiftly, a police team from Police Station Bari Brahmana rushed to the location and apprehended the suspect.

The accused has been identified as Rajeev Kumar, son of Lala Ram, a resident of Shajanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who is presently residing in Barjani, Tehsil Bari Brahmana, District Samba.

During the search operation, police recovered 27 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. The seized liquor includes 19 bottles of JK Special Whisky (180 ml each), five bottles of IB (750 ml each), and three bottles of Royal Stag (750 ml each). All the recovered liquor was seized on the spot.

In this connection, FIR No. 76/2026 under Section 48(f) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana, and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Police officials stated that strict action will continue against those involved in the illegal sale and distribution of liquor to maintain law and order in the district.
