Jammu | March 9: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo on Monday emphasized the need for stricter quality checks and greater accountability in the procurement and supply of medicines and medical equipment for health facilities across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister stated that patient safety remains the government’s top priority and directed officials to ensure that only high-quality medicines and equipment reach hospitals and health institutions.
Sakeena Itoo made these remarks while chairing a high-level review meeting at the Civil Secretariat to assess the performance and functioning of the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL).
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed procurement procedures, supply chains, and quality assurance mechanisms to ensure timely availability of essential medicines and medical equipment in hospitals across the Union Territory.
She directed officials to strengthen monitoring systems and ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning of JKMSCL so that healthcare services remain efficient and reliable.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Health & Medical Education M Raju, MD NHM Akriti Sagar, MD JKMSCL Tariq Hussain Ganie, Director SKIMS Prof M. Ashraf Ganie, along with other senior officials including Directors of Health Services, Finance and Planning officers, and Principals of Government Medical Colleges.
The Minister reiterated that the government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that patients across Jammu and Kashmir receive safe, reliable and high-quality medical services.
