J&K Police Kathua Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize 11.03 Grams Heroin and Vehicle

Kathua, March 22, 2026

Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua district have successfully apprehended two drug peddlers and seized approximately 11.03 grams of heroin (chitta) like substance along with a vehicle during a naka checking operation at Dinga Amb in Hiranagar area.

The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma (IPS).

Police Action and Arrest

According to the official press release, on March 21, 2026, Police Station Hiranagar received credible information regarding the movement of two individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances.

Acting swiftly, a police team led by Inspector Amit Sangra, SHO PS Hiranagar, assisted by PSI Rajat Jasrotia, established a naka at Dinga Amb under the supervision of SP Operations Kathua Mukund Tibrewal (IPS) and SDPO Border Dheeraj Katoch.

Recovery and Seizure

During checking, the police intercepted a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number JK08K-2172 (Maruti Swift) coming from Dyalachak towards Ramkot.

The driver identified himself as Javed Akhtar, son of Mohd Latief, resident of Billawar, along with his accomplice Sheetal Kalotra, wife of Imran Ali, also resident of Billawar.

Upon personal search, police recovered approximately 11.03 grams of heroin (chitta) like substance from their possession.

Case Registered

A case has been registered under FIR No. 32/2026 at Police Station Hiranagar under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (Sections 8/21/22/29).

Further Investigation

The recovered narcotics along with the vehicle have been seized, and further investigation is underway to identify the source and wider network involved in the narcotics supply.

Police officials have reiterated their commitment to curb the drug menace in the region and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to illegal activities.
