Jammu Police Crack Consecutive Theft Cases in Bagh-e-Bahu; Accused Arrested, Gold Worth ₹26.75 Lakh Recovered



Jammu, March 14:
Jammu Police of the South Zone have successfully solved two consecutive theft cases reported at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu, leading to the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen gold and silver ornaments worth ₹26.75 lakh.

The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu, with close guidance from SP City South, SDPO City East, and the SHO of PS Bagh-e-Bahu. The successful breakthrough highlights effective coordination, vigilance, and strategic policing by the Jammu Police.
According to officials, two theft incidents occurred on February 14 and February 15, 2026, within the jurisdiction of PS Bagh-e-Bahu. Following the incidents, police registered FIR No. 13/2026 and FIR No. 14/2026 under Sections 331(3)/305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the investigation, police teams conducted detailed crime scene inspections, sought assistance from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and analyzed CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surrounding areas.
Through careful analysis of the CCTV footage and extensive local enquiries, the police identified and arrested the accused Mohd. Shabir, son of Gul Mohd, a resident of Kilyal, Billawar, currently residing in Qasim Nagar, Jammu.

During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to committing both thefts on consecutive days. Based on his disclosure, the police recovered the stolen gold and silver ornaments from the location where they had been hidden.
In FIR No. 13/2026, gold ornaments weighing approximately 6.4 tolas, valued at around ₹11.75 lakh, were recovered. In FIR No. 14/2026, gold ornaments weighing approximately 9.5 tolas, valued at around ₹15 lakh, were also recovered.

Out of the total stolen property worth ₹31 lakh, the police successfully recovered ₹26.75 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments. The recovered items were verified and identified by the complainants and seized according to legal procedures.
Police officials stated that further investigation is ongoing to examine other possible links related to the case.
The successful recovery highlights the dedication, professionalism, and proactive policing of Jammu Police South Zone, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens.

Authorities said the case sends a strong message that criminal activities will be swiftly detected and dealt with strictly under the law.
