J&K Police Kathua Seizes 10 Litres of Illicit Liquor, One Person Arrested

Continuing its drive against illegal activities, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua recovered approximately 10 litres of illicit liquor (desi) and arrested one person in the SIDCO Ghatti area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua.
According to an official press release, the operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma (IPS).
On 7 March 2026, a police team led by IC Outpost Ghatti PSI Shiv Dutt, under the close supervision of Additional SP Kathua Rahul Charak (JKPS), DySP Headquarters Kathua Ravinder Singh, and SHO Kathua Inspector Ashish Sharma, was on routine patrolling duty in the area.
During the patrol, the police team intercepted a suspicious person moving from Sakte Chak towards the SIDCO Industrial Area, Ghatti. Upon questioning, the individual identified himself as Vishal, son of Som Dass, resident of Saktey Chak, Tehsil and District Kathua.
During the search, the police recovered approximately 10 litres of illicit country-made liquor (desi) from his possession. The liquor was seized on the spot and the accused was taken into custody.
In this regard, FIR No. 119/2026 under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to continue strict action against illegal liquor trade and other unlawful activities in the district.
