International Women’s Day 2026 Celebrated in Budgam; DC Athar Aamir Khan Reaffirms Commitment to Women Empowerment

International Women’s Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall in Budgam, where Deputy Commissioner Budgam Athar Aamir Khan (IAS) highlighted the importance of empowering women and strengthening their role in society.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to promoting women empowerment, gender equality, and inclusive development across the district. He emphasized the need to provide greater opportunities, support systems, and recognition to women in various sectors including education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and governance.
During the event, DC Budgam also presided over a programme organized by the Agriculture Department, which focused on showcasing the achievements and success stories of women farmers in the district. The programme highlighted the increasing participation of women in agricultural activities and their contribution to improving rural livelihoods and food security.
Officials from various departments, representatives of self-help groups, women farmers, and local residents participated in the event. Several speakers appreciated the efforts of women in agriculture and other fields and encouraged more initiatives aimed at strengthening their economic independence.
The celebration concluded with recognition of the hard work and achievements of women farmers, reinforcing the message that empowering women is essential for sustainable development and social progress in the region.
