Drug Peddler Arrested with 11.26 Grams Heroin in Kathua




Kathua, March 7: Continuing its strict action against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua arrested a drug peddler and recovered approximately 11.26 grams of heroin (commonly known as Chitta) during a naka checking operation in the Hariachak area of Police Station Rajbagh.
According to officials, the operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Ms. Mohita Sharma (IPS). A police team led by SHO PS Rajbagh, Inspector Sushil Sharma, along with the In-charge BPP Hariachak, conducted the naka checking under the supervision of SP Operations Kathua, Mukund Tibrewal (IPS) and SDPO Border, Dheeraj Singh Katoch.
During the checking on March 6, 2026, police noticed a suspect moving in suspicious circumstances and stopped him for verification. On conducting a physical search, the police recovered approximately 11.26 grams of heroin-like narcotic substance from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Habeeb Din, son of Rahim Ali, a resident of Darangpur Korepunnu, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua. He was arrested on the spot and the narcotic substance was seized by the police.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 62/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh, and further investigation is underway.
Kathua Police reiterated that it remains committed to taking strict action against drug peddlers and assured the public that continuous efforts are being made to eliminate the menace of drugs and keep society safe.
