Poonch, March 18, 2026:

The Department of Social Welfare, Poonch, organised a grand felicitation ceremony under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative to honour outstanding girl achievers of the district for their exceptional performance in academics, competitive examinations, sports and innovation.

The event celebrated the achievements of girls who secured top positions in Class 10th and 12th examinations, qualified the prestigious NEET examination, and achieved success in the JKAS examination, along with those excelling in sports and innovative fields.

The ceremony was graced by MLA Haveli Ajaz Ahmed Jan and MLA Surankote Choudhary Muhammad Akram. Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, also attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries praised the remarkable accomplishments of the young achievers and appreciated their hard work, dedication and perseverance. They emphasized the importance of empowering girls through education and equal opportunities, highlighting their key role in building a progressive and inclusive society.

District Social Welfare Officer Khalil A. Banday delivered the welcome address and reiterated the department’s commitment towards the upliftment and empowerment of women and girls in the district.

On the occasion, the achievers were felicitated with tablets (electronic gadgets) and Certificates of Appreciation by the District Administration Poonch as a mark of recognition for their excellence.

The awardees also shared their inspiring journeys and expressed gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and the District Administration for recognising their efforts and motivating them to achieve greater heights.

Among other prominent dignitaries present were ACR Muhammad Sayeed, Principal GDC Poonch Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal GDC Surankote Prof. Rani Mughal, GM DIC Naeem Ul Nisa, CEO Poonch Mukhtar Manhas, Principal Anjuman Shaheen, besides senior officers of the district administration, parents and students.
