DC Rajouri Inaugurates 3-Day Mobile Passport Van Service Camp

Rajouri, March 24, 2026:
In a major step towards enhancing citizen service delivery, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) Jammu, under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, launched a three-day Mobile Passport Van Service Camp at the DC Office Complex Rajouri.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, under the ongoing Public Outreach Programme aimed at bringing government services closer to the people.
Speaking to the media, the Deputy Commissioner urged residents to avail themselves of the facility by booking appointments through the official passport website. The Mobile Passport Van will remain stationed at the DC Office Complex from March 24 to March 26, 2026.

He appreciated the efforts of RPO Jammu, led by Rajesh Kumar, for extending passport services to the district, especially benefiting people from remote and hilly areas. He emphasized that such initiatives strengthen citizen-centric governance and improve accessibility.

On the occasion, Section Officer/OSD RPO Jammu, Sunil K. Khar, stated that the camp has been organized to ease the increasing rush at the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) Rajouri. He highlighted the growing number of applicants from Rajouri and Poonch districts and informed that an additional counter at POPSK Rajouri is planned from April 2026 to streamline services further.
The Mobile Passport Van is equipped with facilities for biometric enrolment and on-site document verification, ensuring a smooth, transparent, and efficient process for applicants.

The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the District Administration Rajouri, is expected to significantly improve access to passport services, save time, and benefit residents of far-flung areas.
Several officials, including Chief Planning Officer Maqsood Ahmad and other district officers, were also present on the occasion.
