Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Budgam Police have arrested a suspected drug peddler in the Soibugh area and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
According to officials, a police team from Police Post Soibugh was conducting routine naka checking at village Harran when they noticed a suspicious individual. On spotting the police, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by alert personnel.
The accused has been identified as Younis Nazir Ganiee, son of Nazir Ahmed Ganiee, a resident of Harran, Budgam. During the search, police recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 69/2026 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Budgam. Further investigation is currently underway.
Budgam Police reiterated their commitment to eliminating the drug menace and appealed to the public to share any information related to narcotics to help ensure a drug-free society.
