In a significant action against illegal liquor trade, Udhampur Police arrested a bottlegger and seized a large quantity of illicit liquor during routine checking at Ghordi in the Ramnagar area.

According to police officials, a team from Police Post Ghordi was conducting routine naka checking at Ghordi Tawi when they intercepted an Auto Load Carrier bearing registration number JK14L-3785.

During questioning, the driver identified himself as Ajay Kumar, son of Santokh Ram, resident of Ghordi, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur.

During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 100 quarters (180 ml each) of JK Special Whisky from his possession. The liquor was being transported without any valid permission or legal documentation.

Following the recovery, the accused was arrested on the spot and the illicit liquor was seized by the police.

In connection with the incident, FIR No. 31/2026 under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Ramnagar.

Police officials stated that further investigation into the case is currently underway to determine the source and intended distribution of the seized liquor.

The action highlights the continued efforts of Udhampur Police to curb illegal liquor trade and maintain law and order in the region.
