In a swift action against illegal activities, Anantnag Police apprehended three individuals involved in gambling during a raid conducted in the Ganeshpora area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Aishmuqam.

Acting on credible inputs regarding ongoing gambling activities, a police team carried out a well-planned operation at the specified location. During the raid, three persons were caught red-handed while indulging in gambling.

The accused have been identified as:

Mohd Akbar Rather, S/o Mohd Shaban Rather

Javaid Ahmad Rather, S/o Gh Rasool Rather

Sajad Ahmad Dass, S/o Abdul Ahad Dass

All the accused are residents of Waghama, Bijbehara.

During the operation, police recovered ₹12,750 as stake money along with playing cards from their possession.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 17/2026 under Section 13 of the Gambling Act at Police Station Aishmuqam. Further investigation is currently underway.

Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal activities and maintaining law and order in the district.
