Udhampur, Feb 21: Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking, Udhampur Police arrested two alleged hardcore drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered heroin from their possession.
Case 1: Arrest at Sudhmahadev
A police team from PP Sudhmahadev, while on routine patrolling at Pathyal Morh in Sudhmahadev, noticed a suspicious person attempting to conceal himself on spotting the police party. The suspect was identified as Imran Khan, son of Mohd Lateef, resident of Kossar, Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur.
During personal search, police recovered 6.20 grams of heroin from his possession. In this connection, FIR No. 31/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani, and investigation is underway.
Case 2: Naka Checking at Roun Domail
In another operation, police conducted naka checking at Roun Domail and intercepted an electric auto (JK14L-5263) coming from Manwal towards Udhampur. During checking, the driver, Mohit Sharma, son of Sat Paul Sharma, resident of Farna, Sial Jattan, Salmari, Tehsil and District Udhampur, was found in possession of 5.45 grams of heroin (chitta).
Accordingly, FIR No. 52/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the district and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking.
