Jammu, Feb 21: Former IAS officer Shantmanu was sworn in as the new Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commissioner at a formal ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Jammu.
The oath of office was administered in the presence of Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. The event was also attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rathar, along with senior government officials and dignitaries.
The ceremony marked an important administrative development for the Union Territory, as the State Election Commissioner plays a crucial role in ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections to local bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, dignitaries extended their congratulations to Shantmanu and expressed confidence in his experience and administrative expertise to strengthen the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir.
The event concluded with formal greetings and interactions among the officials at Lok Bhavan.
