Samba Police Solves Gold Ornaments Theft Case; Accused Arrested, Stolen Gold Worth ₹1.60 Lakh Recovered

Samba Police has successfully solved a gold ornaments theft case registered at Police Station Ghagwal. One accused has been arrested, and stolen gold items weighing approximately 10 grams, valued at around ₹1.60 lakh, have been recovered from his possession.
According to official details, on the intervening night of January 27/28, 2026, a complaint was received via WhatsApp on the official mobile number of Police Station Ghagwal from Advocate Dharamvir, son of Tulsi Das, a resident of Harsath, Tehsil Ghagwal, District Samba.
The complainant reported the theft of gold ornaments from a Kali Mata temple located inside his residence. The stolen items included a gold tikka, gold nath, gold chain, and a gold locket.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, Police Station Ghagwal registered FIR No. 12/2026 under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and initiated an investigation.
During the course of investigation, a police team from PS Ghagwal conducted sustained efforts and apprehended a suspect. During questioning, the accused confessed to his involvement in the theft case.
The arrested individual has been identified as Jatin Kumar, son of Bharladh Bhagat, resident of Ghagwal, District Samba. Police recovered all the stolen gold ornaments weighing approximately 10 grams and seized them as evidence.
Further investigation in the matter is currently underway.
