Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday ordered the reopening of 14 tourist destinations across the Kashmir and Jammu divisions, nearly a year after they were temporarily closed as part of precautionary security measures.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the decision was taken following a “thorough security review and discussion.” He directed the immediate restoration of visitor access to 11 tourist sites in the Kashmir Valley and three locations in the Jammu region.
11 Tourist Spots Reopened in Kashmir Division
- Yousmarg and Doodhpathri in Budgam district
- Dandipora Park in Kokernag
- Peer Ki Gali, Dubjan, and Padpawan in Shopian
- Astanpora and the Tulip Garden in Srinagar
- Thajwas Glacier and Hung Park in Ganderbal
- Wullar Lake in Baramulla
3 Tourist Sites Reopened in Jammu Division
- Devi Pindi in Reasi
- Mahu Mangat in Ramban
- Mughal Maidan
Officials said the reopening is expected to provide a significant boost to tourism and local businesses, particularly ahead of the upcoming travel season.
Authorities have ensured that adequate security arrangements will remain in place to ensure the safety of visitors.
