Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, the South Zone of Jammu Police has achieved another major breakthrough by seizing a commercial quantity of heroin-like substance and apprehending a suspected drug peddler.
According to officials, a police team from Police Station Satwari, led by SHO Inspector Jai Pal Singh and PSI Karan Singh under the close supervision of SP South and SDPO South, established a naka (checkpoint) at Dharap within the jurisdiction of Satwari Police Station.
During routine naka checking, a suspect identified as Rashpal Singh alias Anda, son of Pritam Singh, resident of Upper Gadigarh, who was moving from Dharap towards Rohi Pind, attempted to flee after noticing the police presence. Acting swiftly and professionally, the alert police team apprehended him on the spot.
Upon conducting a thorough search, the police recovered 262 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession, which falls under commercial quantity as per the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In this connection, FIR No. 50/2026 has been registered at Police Station Satwari under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is currently underway. Officials also revealed that the accused has a history of involvement in drug peddling, with four previous FIRs already registered against him.
This successful operation reflects the firm commitment and zero-tolerance policy of Jammu Police, South Zone, in its ongoing war against narcotics. The police have reiterated their resolve to eradicate the drug menace and protect the youth from the devastating impact of substance abuse.
