Jammu, February 16:
Former Education Minister Harsh Dev Singh has strongly criticized the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, stating that even after 79 years of Independence, people are still struggling to access clean drinking water.
Addressing officials, Singh warned the PHE department over alleged negligence and delays in providing water connections to needy households. He alleged that poor families were charged money for water connections, yet taps have not been installed in several areas.
He emphasized that access to drinking water is a basic right of every citizen and urged authorities to take immediate corrective measures. Singh further stated that strict action should be taken against officials responsible for lapses in implementation.
The issue has once again sparked debate over infrastructure development and delivery of essential services in Jammu and Kashmir.
