Drug Peddler Arrested; Banned Tablets and ₹11.60 Lakh Cash Recovered in R.S. Pura, Jammu

Jammu, February 06, 2026:
Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police achieved another significant success with the arrest of a drug peddler and the recovery of a huge quantity of banned tablets along with cash amounting to ₹11.60 lakh.
Acting on routine patrolling duties, a police team from Police Station R.S. Pura, led by PSI Naresh Kumar and assisted by other officials, established a naka (checkpoint) at Kotli Gala Bana near a brick kiln. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SHO Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar and overall supervision of senior officers.
During the naka checking on February 05, 2026, the police stopped a Mahindra KUV bearing registration number JK02BM-6680 for inspection. Upon checking, a large quantity of banned capsules along with ₹11.60 lakh in cash was recovered from an orange-colored polythene bag placed on the front co-driver seat.
On questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as Shiva Gupta, son of Naresh Kumar Gupta, resident of Ward No. 01, R.S. Pura, Tehsil R.S. Pura, District Jammu.
In this connection, FIR No. 32/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station R.S. Pura. The accused has been arrested, and the contraband, cash, and vehicle have been seized.
Further investigation is underway to unearth the deeper nexus involved and to identify both backward and forward linkages in the drug trafficking network.
Jammu Police reiterated its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing credible information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse.
