Two Pakistani militants were neutralised in a joint operation by Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Tuesday.

According to official sources, the encounter began after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs about militant movement in the region. During the operation, militants opened fire on the security forces, prompting a swift and coordinated response.

After a brief but intense exchange of gunfire, both militants were eliminated. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the site. Security forces have launched a search operation in the surrounding forest area to ensure no other militants are hiding.

No casualties have been reported on the security forces’ side. Authorities have stated that the situation in the area is under control, and further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
