Patna: An outbreak of Bird Flu (H5N1) has been confirmed in Bihar’s capital, Patna, prompting immediate preventive action by the state government. Authorities have culled 4,575 chickens to contain the spread of the virus.
As part of containment measures, officials have also destroyed 9,662 eggs and 530 kilograms of poultry feed. Sanitization and disinfection drives are currently underway in the affected areas.
In view of public safety, Patna Zoo has been temporarily closed and will remain shut until March 7 as a precautionary step. The state administration has issued an alert and urged residents to follow health advisories issued by the Animal Husbandry and Health Departments.
Officials stated that surveillance and monitoring efforts have been intensified to prevent further spread of the infection.
