Samba, January 31, 2026:
Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Samba Police arrested two drug peddlers, including a woman, and recovered 13.20 grams of heroin-like substance (commonly known as Chitta) from their possession within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
According to officials, a police team from Police Station Bari Brahmana was conducting naka checking near NHW Sarore Adda when they signalled an auto-rickshaw (Registration No. JK02DM-6135), coming from the Sarore side, to stop for checking. On noticing the police presence, the driver attempted to flee the spot. However, the alert police personnel successfully intercepted the vehicle near JDA Park.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, the police recovered approximately 13.20 grams of heroin-like substance from two individuals, including a woman, who were travelling in the auto-rickshaw.
The accused have been identified as Parveen Kumar, son of Darshan Lal, and Swarana Devi, wife of Ashok Kumar, both residents of Qasim Nagar, Bahu Fort, district Jammu. The contraband substance was seized on the spot, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also taken into custody.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 55/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana, and further investigation is underway.
