Jammu, January 14, 2026:
The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced an extension of winter vacations for all Government and Private schools falling under the Summer Zone of Jammu & Kashmir in view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions.
As per Order No. 17-DSEJ of 2026 dated 14-01-2026, the winter break, which was earlier notified vide Order No. 16-DSEJ-2026 dated 11-01-2026, has now been extended up to January 17, 2026. The extension will be applicable to both students and teaching staff.
However, the Directorate has clarified that Board Examinations for Classes 10th to 12th, if scheduled, will be conducted strictly as per the notified examination timetable.
The order further advises schools to explore the possibility of conducting online classes for students from Class 6th onwards during the extended vacation period to ensure continuity of learning.
Additionally, it has been directed that preparations for Republic Day 2026 shall continue and be conducted strictly according to the schedule notified by the competent authorities.
The order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority and signed by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, JKAS, Director School Education, Jammu.
