Three Terrorist Hideouts Busted by Kathua Police in Joint Operation


Kathua Police, in coordination with other security forces, have busted three terrorist hideouts in the Billawar area of Kathua district, dealing a significant blow to anti-national elements operating in the region.
According to official sources, on 07 January 2025, reliable intelligence inputs were received regarding the movement of terrorists in the forest area of Kamaad Nallah, Kalaban, Dhanu Parole (Billawar). Acting swiftly, joint teams of security forces launched a large-scale search operation to neutralize the threat.
During the operation, the hiding terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the security forces, leading to an exchange of fire that continued throughout the night. While conducting the search, one terrorist hideout was detected, from which several incriminating items were recovered.
Items Recovered from the First Hideout:
02 empty M4 cartridges
One plastic box containing desi ghee
One polythene packet containing almonds
Hand gloves
One cap
One blanket
One tarpaulin sheet
One small pouch
One polythene bag
In continuation of the ongoing search operation, on 16 January 2026, joint security teams busted two more terrorist hideouts in the Kalikhad and Kalaban areas of Billawar.
Items Recovered from the Subsequent Hideouts:
Cooking gas cylinder
Cooking oil
Charger wire
Hand gloves
Cooking and eating utensils
Empty oil gallon
Large plastic bags
Torch
Blankets
Containers
Wrappers of eatables and other miscellaneous items
Ms. Mohita Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, stated that the search operation is still underway and assured that Kathua Police remain fully committed to maintaining peace and security in the district.
