On the occasion of National Voters’ Day 2026, entity"people","Gyanesh Kumar","chief election commissioner of india", the Chief Election Commissioner, highlighted the crucial role played by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in strengthening Indian democracy.
Addressing officials and stakeholders, Kumar said that BLOs are the backbone and foundation of the democratic system, as they ensure accurate voter registration, updates to electoral rolls, and voter awareness at the grassroots level. He emphasized that the credibility and inclusiveness of elections depend largely on the dedication and efficiency of BLOs.
He further stated that the efforts of BLOs help guarantee that every eligible citizen gets the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, thereby reinforcing public trust in the electoral process. The Chief Election Commissioner also urged election officials to continue working with transparency, integrity, and commitment.
National Voters’ Day is celebrated every year to encourage citizens, especially young voters, to participate actively in the democratic process and to spread awareness about the importance of voting.
