Border Roads Organisation Swiftly Restores Strategic Road Connectivity in Rajouri’s Kandi–Kotranka Sector Amid Heavy Snowfall

Rajouri, January 27:
In the wake of an unprecedented spell of heavy snowfall that battered the Rajouri–Kandi–Budhal axis, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) launched immediate and sustained snow-clearance operations to restore vital road connectivity in the Pir Panjal region of Rajouri.
The sudden snowfall, with accumulations reaching up to three feet in several areas, brought traffic to a complete halt on a strategically crucial road stretch, cutting off multiple sub-divisions from Rajouri town. The disruption severely affected the movement of defence forces, civilians, and emergency medical services.
Despite hostile weather, treacherous terrain, and high operational risks, BRO personnel of 110 RCC/31 BRTF under Project Sampark undertook round-the-clock snow-clearance operations. Specialised snow-removal equipment and dedicated manpower were deployed, leading to the initial opening of a single-lane road that enabled controlled vehicular movement.
Within just 14 hours, essential traffic—including emergency services—was restored. Clearance and widening operations continued without interruption, and within 24 hours, approximately 35 kilometres of the snow-bound road was fully cleared and restored, ensuring safer and smoother movement.
The operation highlighted exemplary civil–military coordination, maintaining uninterrupted operational mobility for defence formations while preventing the isolation of local populations during extreme weather conditions. BRO’s swift intervention proved critical in sustaining both strategic and humanitarian connectivity in the region.
Reaffirming its commitment to nation-building in remote and challenging border areas, the BRO once again lived up to its motto—“Shramen Sarvam Sadhyam” (Through Hard Work, All Is Achievable).
