Kathua, December 01: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Kathua Police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered approximately 8.21 grams of heroin (Chitta) from his possession in the jurisdiction of Police Post Marheen under Police Station Rajbagh.
The operation was carried out on November 30, 2025, when a police team led by IC PP Marheen PSI Azhar Mehnood, under the supervision of SP Operations Kathua Mukund Tibrewal (IPS), SDPO Border Dheeraj Singh Katoch and Insp. Ajay Chib SHO PS Rajbagh, intercepted a suspicious person during naka checking. On thorough search, the police recovered the banned narcotic substance.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sadiq Ali alias Kalu, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Khanpur, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua.
In this connection, FIR No. 229/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of NDPS Act has been lodged at Police Station Rajbagh, and further investigation is underway. The seized contraband has been taken into official custody.
District Police reiterated its commitment to intensify action against drug networks and emphasized continuous efforts to make society free from the menace of drugs.
