Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Jammu (Rural) Police achieved a major success on Tuesday by apprehending two notorious drug peddlers and recovering a heroin-like substance from their possession in the Ghrota area.
Acting on heightened surveillance, a police party from Police Station Ghrota established a naka near Thathi Petrol Pump at around 11:00 AM. During the checking, two individuals riding a motorcycle from the Akhnoor side were found behaving suspiciously. On noticing the police presence, they attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended after a brief chase due to the alertness of the police personnel.
The arrested persons were identified as Asgar Ali @ Billu, son of Yusuf Ali, resident of Barn, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu, and Naseem Ali @ Kallu, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Dabar Mehra, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu.
During their personal search, 10 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin (chitta) was recovered from their conscious possession.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police Station Ghrota vide FIR No. 114/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the drug supply network in the area.
Jammu (Rural) Police reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information to help eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
