Kishtwar, December 19, 2025:
The District Administration Kishtwar today launched the “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” 5th Good Governance Week across all 13 blocks of the district, reaffirming its commitment to citizen-centric and transparent governance at the grassroots level.
The annual initiative is observed around the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee (Bharat Ratna) on December 25 and will be celebrated from December 19 to 25, 2025.
At the district headquarters, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), along with ADC Kishtwar Sh. Pawan Kotwal (JKAS), CPO Kishtwar, and other senior officers and staff, assembled at the DC Office Complex to witness the live launch of the nationwide campaign.
The week-long campaign focuses on redressal of public grievances, strengthening service delivery mechanisms, and ensuring effective governance at the doorsteps of citizens. Acting on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, officers from key line departments including RDD, Revenue, Health, AYUSH, and Animal Husbandry were deputed to all 13 blocks as per the schedule notified by the District Administration, Kishtwar.
During the outreach programmes, officers actively interacted with the public, listened to their grievances, and provided on-the-spot redressal wherever possible. Awareness was also generated about major flagship schemes of the Central and J&K UT Governments, including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana, Mission YUVA, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
On-the-spot services were extended to citizens, including issuance of Ayushman Cards, Domicile Certificates, and other essential revenue-related services, ensuring immediate benefits to the people.
Highlighting the importance of Good Governance Week, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between administration and citizens by promoting transparency, accountability, and efficient public service delivery across the district.
As part of the programme, the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Kishtwar, distributed Flying Shuttle Looms along with complete accessories to the Handloom Weaving Training Center, Bounjwah. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the skills and productivity of trainees by enabling the production of high-quality fabrics.
The block-level events were presided over by ADDC Kishtwar Sh. Vinod Kumar Behnal (JKAS) at Mughal Maidan; SDM Paddar Dr. Amit Kumar (JKAS) at Paddar; SDM Chatroo Sh. Nayeem Ur Rehman (JKAS) at Inderwal; ACP Kishtwar Sh. Neeraj Sharma at Kishtwar; DSWO Kishtwar Sh. Tariq Parveaz Qazi (JKAS) at Trigam; AD FCS & CA Kishtwar Sh. Shafqat Ali Keen (JKAS) at Bounjwah; ARTO Kishtwar Sh. Tasleem Wani at Drabshalla; CAO Kishtwar Sh. Kushal Chandel at Nagseni, and other nominated officers at remaining block headquarters across the district.
The successful launch of the 5th Good Governance Week marks another significant step towards responsive administration and inclusive development in District Kishtwar.
