DC Kishtwar Reviews District Preparedness for Pulse Polio Immunization Drive 2025

Kishtwar, December 08, 2025:
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), today chaired a District Level Task Force meeting to review and finalize the preparedness for the upcoming Pulse Polio Immunization Drive 2025, scheduled to be conducted on 21st, 22nd, and 23rd December 2025 across the district.

The DC conducted a detailed assessment of arrangements and issued necessary directions to officers of all line departments for the smooth and well-coordinated execution of the campaign. He directed all CDPOs to work closely with BMOs and ensure deployment of Anganwadi Workers in municipal areas where ASHA workers are not available, so that no polio booth remains unmanned.

Directions were issued to ARTO Kishtwar to set up polio booths at key locations including Bus Stand Kishtwar, Gulabgarh (Paddar), and Chatroo, and to launch awareness drives among transporters and drivers. The ACD Kishtwar and CEO Kishtwar were asked to ensure timely logistics support across the district, while manpower shortages are to be met with assistance from the Education Department.

The ALC Kishtwar was instructed to intensify awareness initiatives among labourers and driver communities working at power project sites to achieve universal immunization coverage. Municipal Council Kishtwar was directed to conduct public announcements through vehicle-mounted systems, and the District Information Officer (DIO) Kishtwar was asked to strengthen IEC activities through electronic, print, and social media.

Highlighting the global circulation threat of the polio virus, especially from Afghanistan and Pakistan, the DC emphasized the need for ongoing vigilance, robust surveillance, and high vaccination coverage to protect children in the district. He stressed the importance of proper training of frontline staff and called for the mobilization of ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, school teachers, NGOs, religious leaders, and community influencers to ensure last-mile immunization for every child under five years of age.

The DC urged all departments to maintain strong coordination and synergy for effective execution of the Pulse Polio Immunization Drive 2025.

The meeting was attended by CPO Kishtwar Akhil Thakur, ACD Manoj Kumar, CDPO/DIO Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, ALC Mamta Sudarshan, ARTO Tasleem Wani, CDPO Nagseni Najeeb Latief, CEO Sanjay Dogra, I/C CMO Dr. Yudhvir Singh Kotwal, BMO Kishtwar Dr. Anil Sharma, BMO Dachan Dr. Sajad Hussain, BMO Paddar Dr. Krishan Singh Katoch, and other officers and officials concerned.
