Kishtwar, December 27, 2025: As a part of the ongoing initiative towards a greener Kishtwar, the District Administration Kishtwar under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma(JKAS), in collaboration with Civil Society Kishtwar and Senior Citizens, conducted a plantation drive at the Mini Secretariat, New Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, Kishtwar.
The programme was aimed at strengthening efforts towards environmental protection and sustainable development in the district.
Saplings were planted at various locations within the DC Office Complex to increase green cover, promote urban plantation, and help maintain ecological balance. The initiative forms part of the UT Government’s continued commitment to environmental conservation and eco-friendly practices.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma, JKAS, led the plantation drive by planting saplings and highlighted the importance of tree plantation in addressing climate change, improving air quality, and conserving natural resources.
He directed all government departments and urged all citizens of the District Kishtwar to actively participate in such initiatives and contribute towards a greener future.
The plantation drive witnessed active participation from ADC Kishtwar Sh. Pawan Kotwal, JKAS, CPO Kishtwar Akhil Thakur, PO ICDS Kishtwar Dr. Rishi Kumar Sharma, DIO Kishtwar Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, CHO Kishtwar Sajid Mustafa, other district officers, Dr. Sanjay Sen, Advisor, Civil Society Kishtwar besides other representatives of Civil Society Kishtwar and Senior Citizens.
The programme highlighted the collective efforts of the district administration and civil society in promoting environmental awareness and encouraging community participation for sustainable development.
