Budgam, December 4, 2025:
Cyber Police Station Budgam has intensified its efforts to tackle increasing cyber-enabled crimes, successfully recovering ₹15,87,593 lost by victims in various online frauds during October and November 2025. The police unit also traced and returned 52 lost or stolen mobile phones worth nearly ₹1.5 lakh using the CIER portal.
The recovered funds were linked to multiple complaints related to UPI frauds, fake social media offers, online marketplace scams, fraudulent loan applications, OTP misuse, and bogus investment schemes. Acting promptly, the Cyber Police froze suspicious transactions, coordinated with banks and financial institutions, and tracked digital footprints to ensure timely recovery.
District Police Budgam has appealed to the public to stay alert while using digital platforms, avoid sharing sensitive details, and report cybercrime incidents immediately.
Citizens can seek assistance or file complaints via the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal or by calling the dedicated helpline 1930.
