Budgam, December 27, 2025:
Continuing its sustained efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking, Budgam Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substance in the Chadoora area.
A police team from Police Station Chadoora, led by HC Javaid Ahmad, was on routine patrol duty in Ganjibagh village when they noticed a person carrying a nylon bag in a suspicious manner. On seeing the police party, the individual attempted to flee but was apprehended promptly by the police party.
During preliminary questioning, the suspect was identified as Mehraban Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Qayoom Bhat, resident of Gopalpora. Upon search of the nylon bag, police recovered semi-grinded charas-like substance weighing approximately 7 kilograms and 910 grams. Accordingly, FIR No. 208/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora, and further investigation is underway.
