Samba Police Attaches Assets Worth Rs 53.66 Lakh of Notorious Drug Peddler

Samba, November 06, 2025: In a major action against drug trafficking, Samba Police has attached illegally acquired property worth approximately Rs 53.66 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Mohd. Baru, son of Mohd. Yousaf, originally a resident of Laswara, Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu and currently residing at Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana in Samba district.

The attached property includes a single-storey residential house and a cattle shed. The action was taken under Sections 68-E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 52/2024 under sections 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana.

During the investigation, police established that the property was acquired through illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Additionally, a cash amount of Rs 16,58,660 was seized from the accused in the same case.

With the attachment of property valued at Rs 53.66 lakh and recovery of cash worth Rs 16.58 lakh, the total illegal assets linked to the accused are estimated at around Rs 70 lakh.

The accused, Mohd. Baru, is a habitual offender and a prominent member of the narcotics supply chain. He has been involved in 12 criminal cases registered at Police Stations Bari Brahmana and Ghagwal in Samba district, and PS Bishnah in Jammu district, including three NDPS cases currently under trial.

The operation underscores the firm resolve of Samba Police to eradicate drug abuse and break the financial backbone of drug traffickers. Local residents have appreciated the police action and hailed the initiative as a strong step toward curbing the drug menace.

The operation was led by the SHO, Police Station Bari Brahmana, under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana, and overall guidance of SSP Samba.
