IAF Participates in ‘Garuda 25’ Bilateral Air Exercise with France

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is taking part in the 8th edition of the bilateral air exercise ‘Garuda 25’ with the French Air and Space Force (FASF), being conducted from November 16 to 27, 2025, at the Mont-de-Marsan Air Base in France. The IAF contingent reached France on November 10 for the joint drill.

For this year’s exercise, the IAF has deployed its Su-30MKI fighter jets, supported by a C-17 Globemaster III for airlift operations during induction and de-induction. In addition, IL-78 air-to-air refuelling aircraft are part of the contingent, significantly enhancing the range and mission endurance of the Su-30MKIs during intensive training sorties.

Throughout the exercise, IAF pilots will participate in advanced, simulated combat missions alongside French multirole fighter aircraft. These operations include air-to-air combat, air defence missions, and coordinated strike drills, all aimed at sharpening tactical expertise and improving joint operational capabilities.

‘Garuda 25’ also provides a valuable platform for strengthening defence cooperation between India and France. Personnel from both forces will engage in professional exchanges, share operational insights, and discuss modern air combat strategies to enhance mutual understanding and interoperability.

The exercise underscores the growing strategic partnership between the two nations and reflects their commitment to strengthening global security through joint military training.
