Budgam, November 2025: In a decisive victory, Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi of the Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Assembly Constituency 27 – Budgam by securing 21,576 votes, with a winning margin of +4,478 votes after the completion of all 17 rounds of counting.
His closest rival, Aga Syed Mahmood Al-Mosavi of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), finished second with 17,098 votes, trailing significantly.
The constituency witnessed a multi-cornered contest with several independent candidates and representatives of major regional and national parties, including BJP, AAP, Apni Party, and others. However, most candidates recorded a steep deficit, with margins ranging between –4,478 to more than –21,000 votes.

A total of 544 voters opted for NOTA (None of the Above).
The result marks a significant win for the PDP in the central Kashmir region, reinforcing its base in Budgam. The by-election saw active participation from multiple political fronts, highlighting the constituency’s dynamic political landscape.
