BJP’s Devyani Rana Wins Nagrota Bye-Election by a Massive Margin

Nagrota (Jammu & Kashmir), November 2025:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a significant victory in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency (AC-77) as Devyani Rana emerged the clear winner in the November 2025 bye-election. According to the final results after Round 11 of counting, Devyani Rana secured 42,183 votes, winning by a huge margin of 24,522 votes.

Her closest competitor, Harsh Dev Singh of the Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (India), trailed with 17,661 votes, while Shamim Begum of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference stood third with 10,834 votes.

Independent candidates and other party nominees secured comparatively lower votes:

Anil Sharma (Independent): 837 votes

Bodh Raj (J&K Apni Party): 392 votes

Joginder Singh (AAP): 352 votes

Gulzar Hussain (Independent): 330 votes

Shah Mohd (Independent): 288 votes

Naresh Kumar Chib (J&K NPP - Bhim): 211 votes

Qari Zaheer Abbas Bhatti (All India Forward Bloc): 134 votes

NOTA: 345 votes


The landslide victory reflects strong public support in favour of the BJP candidate, marking a major political development in the Nagrota region ahead of the upcoming larger electoral cycles in Jammu & Kashmir.

Devayni Rana’s emphatic win is expected to boost BJP’s presence and influence in the Jammu belt, reaffirming the party’s stronghold in the region.
